A friend inherited a really nice S/42-1936................really nice!!!
He brought it to me to help with I.D., value etc. The toggle will not stay open? So far I've swapped his upper to the lower of my "shooter" and it stays open. Put my "shooter upper" on his his lower and it will not stay open. I suspect a problem with the holdopen latch spring. Can the spring, only, be replaced? or should I be looking someplace else for a problem? Thanks |

Hi
I concur with your analysis. Luger Doc has the spring you need. Sieger Thanks[/QUOTE] |

Levi, I do have the springs in stock @$15 + $3 S&H. This spring provides DOWNWARD pressure on the HO, so should not prevent it from applying, but if weak will prevent HO from unlocking when the mag is removed. I would check just how high this HO rises with his empty mag with the top of luger removed, and if it is free to spring up when pushed down. Most times it is the mag that is at fault. TH

OK Guys, thanks for you help. I have tried several mags, even one new Meg-Gar with no success.
Would replacing this spring effect the originality of the gun? It is a quite nice all matching except mag. Thanks again........... |

Robert,
It is an unnumbered part, so it won't affect the value. I don't know if Tom is offering original or repo springs, but it would be difficult to tell the difference.
