Well I'm new. 1900 American Eagle I think

Well my great grandpa got this gun some time ago I dont know the story really i've heard a few one which was ridiculous from the latter owner my grandpa. anyway from what i have seen it appears to be a 1900 german luger i dont know how to rate blueing its got a lot of it left ?? percentage wise i dont know. it seems to be all matching numbers from what i can find. I dont know how to dismantle it to find out for sure. It fires the rifling appears to be in great shape from what i can see with my super led light, i could be wrong but i can see it for sure. I dont know where the proof marks are , or it doesnt have one. SN 13906 any info appreciated Also it is marked with GERMANY under the 13906

You are correct, it is a Model 1900 American Eagle Luger. It was made specifically for thye US market. I think I can see one of the proof marks, a crown over a U, on the left side of the receiver. If the marks haven't been removed or worn away, you will usually see a crown over each of the letters B, U and G on the bottom of the barrel and a crown over B and U on the side of the receiver. Congratulations on having this model in the family, it is a classic.

From your pictures, it is fairly rough in bluing; I would say $1300-$2000; 1900's sell, but are a smaller market; if nicer than what it looks like in the pictures, I would say $1700-$2300.

Better pictures would help.

Welcome to the forum! I am collecting these type right now. If looking for a shooter, I think I would find a newer model, like a mismatched WW2 or the like as the parts are expensive for 1900's.

It also has a crazy leather holster made out of leather with a metal clip covered in soft cowhide leather. The luger is fully visible in holster

Here are the pics of the holster I can't really get a good picture of the blueing cuz the light on my camera makes even the deep blue parts look not so and i with the lighting i have regular no flash it looks like the whole gun is blue. it was used a lot. anyone have any more info or ideas

is the holder thing worth anything? lol so anywhere between 1300 and 2700. I was thinking about selling it but i dunno yet guess i need to research some more.

anyone have any other insights or price variations or is this absolutely spot on. All the other posts i see people arguing over value, but i guess thats the more sought after ww2 stuff which is what i was hoping i had when i got it. Guess the devil in me wanted a nazi gun ?

OH i got you those are different guns. I am not really a gun guy. lol As far as guns their are only a few i really care to own two .50 cal gold desert eagles or dual pearl handled .45's. I am more of a history guy which would bank me keeping these except I have quite a bit of contempt for my grandfather and some things he did in his past which can't be forgiven in my mind even in the grave. While this gun had nothing to do with that I'd rather get some cash or something nice for it that I could start my own collection/history with.

I noticed it's easier to sell "misc" guns, Browning, Nambu, Yugo, etc. The "classical" guns, Luger and Broom are actually harder.

For misc, excellent ones are easy go.

I am new here. so hi.

I was looking at a gun of a friends last night that his Dad had left him. It appears to be just like this one, except the SN is 13902.

Is this gun a 7.65mm?

Was it made in 1900?

These are probably goofy questions to you guys, but my only knowledge of Lugers is what I found in the Blue Book of Guns.
My friend has zero knowledge of guns in general and his Dad is deceased.

By the marking & the info I found in that book I had it narrowed down to this model.... which the book said was a 7.65mm and one made in 1906 that was a 9mm.

I was leaning toward the first because of the SN, 13902.

I could find no marking for caliber, but it appears smaller than a 9mm. I am going back today with my calipers to measure the bore.

Anyway, I did a search this morning and found this site..... I figured someone on here would know the answers.

Thank you in advance for any help.
