Default Bayonet Info ?

Would anyone know anything about this bayonet ? There are markings on each side of the blade near the handle.

43ffc

8521

Would this bayonet be of any value ?

Thanks

Your bayonet is for a K98 it was made in 1943 FFC is the maker (although I dont know who the maker is off of the top of my head) Is the back of the scabbard numbered also? If it matches the numbers on the bayonet with the leather frog and all I would say you shout be able to get $150-200 for it. Although it may not sell quickly.

The bayonet and scabbard are mismatched. This would drop the value. Is the leather frog marked?

You have a late war K98 combat bayonet with a mis-matched scabbard. Wayne is correct in that the maker was Herder und Sohn, a well known German maker. The 8521c mark on the blade is the bayonet's serial number and the 554 on the scabbard is it'serial number. Value of K98 combat blades is a tough one to guage right now, but I've seen very clean matching ones in the $250-300 range and clean mis-matched ones in the $100-150 range recently. Used to find them for $35, but those days are over.
