The kid lived in the wrong place, it's mission impossible for him to get a Luger or a P38, but he got a Luger-like pistol

You may do not believe but this week I watched an episode of "The Simpsons" (a parody to "Da Vinci's Code") and Mr. Montgomery Burns pulls a Luger and the end!

As to Alvin's comment on the lack of Lugers in movie's. I'm willing to bet that you never will see a luger fired more than once continually, unless they cut to a Luger firing real ammo. Luger's are near impossible to make work with blanks, while P38s are easy. Most Lugers seen on film are for show, not actual firing. So if Yugoslav movies call for much firing, Lugers are out.

Hi Alan, There are at least two movies I can think of where a Luger fires a complete magazine. They are "The Producers" and "The Blues Brothers". Regards, Norm

Romanian WWII movies are also interesting. Historically, Romania mostly stood on German's side, Antonescu promised Hitler that "Romania would stand by Germany thick and thin" at late as 1944. Since Antonescu dictatorship was overthrown and this became a politically incorrect stance, postwar Romanian WWII movies were very distorted. If by watching those movies only, Romania fighted German fiercely most of time!! Or, Antonescu's police fighting with Iron Guard, i.e., facist fighting facist...., not unlike Hitler flushed out SA in 1934.
Of course, numerous German weapons in Romanian movies. |

Hello, I'm from exYugoslavia and my Luger was taken from a captured german soldier somewhere near Bosnia in 1943.
I think I found a movie where Luger is present. This is the movie "The battle of Neretva" (Bitka na Neretvi, 1969) where Yul Brynner (partisan) has a Luger in his hand. Unfortunetly, the photo is not very clear. My opinion on main reason why Lugers are rarely present in YU movies is that most of partisan movies were made in times when there was not so much movie equipment as it is today. And in YU you could more easily find Walthers than Lugers. I watched a documentary film about making movies soon after 1945. The real guns and real bullets were used, so it was quite dangerous for the actors. For example, there was a scene where some german soldiers were shown. In the next moment the camera has turned towards the partisans who started to shut towards the Germans. But just few seconds before that the german soldiers had to quickly run away from there (or they would be dead for real). Well, I would not like to be an actor in that movies...
