Needing some expert opinion...
All:
I'm getting twitchy to buy another Luger and came across this one on GB. I'm not going to bid on it because I haven't done my homework, but the numbers on the mags. concern me. Am I jousting at windmills? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=151613864 Thanks; dju PS: Keep me in mind when you guys have a lower end honest warhorse rig for sale. I typically pick up the Lugers, matching except mags, with holsters, etc, but will not pay for that special marking, history, etc. Definitely meat and potatos stuff. |

David -
I would have expected to see more patina on the wooden plugs considering their supposed age. A little too "clean" I think. Notice there is no dirt in those numbers, etc. (JMHO)

Hi David, I looked at this item earlier and my gut feeling was that this rig had seen some police use. The police typically force matched mags. and numbered them 1 & 2. You will see that the mag on the left is marked 1. Regards, Norm

To paraphrase the late Herman Goering..."when I see matching mags I reach for my glass".
The original quote is said to be "When I hear the word culture I reach for my Browning". |
