Nope, not me, Gale Morgan could do it but not me. I have turned down a few really bad ones, and I have actually turned down some real nice original collector grade guns in the hands of the uninformed. I have even shipped some back that were too nice once I looked at them. I really dont like doing really bad ones, it is usually a waste of money, they never come out that perfect. The one that Morgan did that was featured in a a Gun Reference book titled "1300 grams of Rust" where he took a bad broomhandle and turned it into a musuem piece was incredible. This man truely is talented and is the best restorer I know. Sad, my mentor Bill Adair passed away last February. He was pretty darn good at restorations too.
That K date was not that bad when I bought it but it was all salt blued and I wanted it to look right. I have lots of before and after pictures from my earlier days of restorations that can be seen on my website. My favorite is that Code 480 that I have shown on the forum many times. I am truely blessed to be able to do these restorations. It is a labour of love.
I love restoring Lugers first, then P.38s next, PPKs, then lastly Broomhandle Mausers. I will NEVER do another LAHTI again, darn near impossible to reassemble without jigs. They are like a Luger on Steroids. HEAVY........man those things are heavy!
