Folks,
So I got my Luger and bought a box of Winchester 9mm Luger ammo, FMJ, and all works fine. Did I stumble onto the ideal ammo?? Recently bought a couple boxes of UMC (Remington) FMJ rounds, about a buck cheaper, but haven't shot any yet. They are a bit shorter. How do they compare? Reloadability? Is there a very cheap ammo outlet? What numbers are we talking about before we shoot out a barrel? I know, I ask a lot of questions for a Dutch boy from Iowa. Jim |

Hey it's okay, I was in Holland for several years, so I LIKE Dutch people!
I have found with my Lugers that the ammo question depends on each weapon. All shoot most reliably with FMJ. I have shot hollow points and Silver Tips through my Artillery and it fed fine, but she likes other rounds that my 4 inch chokes up on. So, in short, I have had good luck with Winchester and Remington. I bought some UMC at Walmart for $10.99 a hundred rounds, so that is a pretty good price. At gun shows you can pick up PMC and Wolf ammo for around the same price or a bit less, but some people HATE PMC, say it is to dirty. I shot it years ago and liked it, but that was literally 10 years a go. It comes down to this, fire a bunch of differtn rounds and see what ones she likes, then stick with it. Hope this helps, Ed |

Jim; I bought a case of Norinco (Chinese) a couple of years ago and it works fine in all my Lugers. Even though Clinton stopped the import of it there is still a lot for sale. There is a lot of it in the Shotgun News, just try and find someone that doesn"t charge for shipping. Your Luger should last forever. I doubt you could shoot the barrel out unless you really tried.

I have used both the Remington and the Winchester FMJ with equally good results. True, the Remington round was slightly shorter, but I had no feeding problems with it.
My most recent purchase at WalMart was Winchester 115gr, FMJ, loose packed 100/box ammunition at $10.95. Works great at a fairly good price. |
