Thank God he didn't. A Japanese luger has all the hallmarks of a Japanese car. It's good, but as exciting as a 90-year old virgin. Still working on the Krieghoff. The company does not respond to my inquiries so I haven't had the chance to study one in the flesh. I think the price tag is way too high, but I do admire the fact that they had the guts to recreate the pistol. If they had managed to price it in the 1000 - 1500 dollar range, they would have had a winner. But here again, production costs probably went through the roof. I hope I get the chance to examine and test one in the near future. There is something unsettling about running a few boxes of S&B through a 15,000 dollar pistol, though... |

My Model 1886 Winchester is one of the new Japanese creations, and it is really quite nicely made. Its fit and finish are first class. The only problem I had with it was with the main spring. As is usual with Japanese springs, the metal was poor and the spring had already lost its "power" when I bought it new. A 75 cent change-out to an original Winchester spring solved the problem in a jiff. Accuracy with lead bullets is really fantastic! Typically, three touching at 100 yards! The rice wagons are not all that bad, it you buy the right car in the first place. My 1985 300ZX Turbo is quite nice on an open road, and I still own it after 24 years!! Sieger |
