Default 3d ammo box experiments

Been playing with some 3d box design software.
This enabled me to scan the sides of some old cartridge boxes, display them in 3d and even rotate them.

Enjoy

Very cool, but can you slow them down?

Ed, I'm trying to. Saving them in animated gif and keeping them at an acceptable rate is a bit of a challenge

Hi Gerben,
Cool...
Next time we meet each other you should show me how you do this.

Cheers,
Mauro

Ed, yes, the package is relatively cheap. It also makes great AVI's. Nice for show-and-tell situations (or as a background on shows).

Mauro, it's actually pretty easy. The software is designed to create virtual boxes for software, book covers, CD-Rom packages, etc... It enables one to play with the properties of a simple box shape and to stick images on them. So all that is needed is a number of scans of boxes (front, rear, top, left and right side) and import them. The software does all the calculations, rendering and animations.

Steinar,

There's a actually a number of programs that perform similar tasks. One of them can create stills only, the others offer the possibility to export animations as GIF or AVI files:

"Boxshot 3D" does stills."
"3D Packshot" and "3D Box Shot" can do the animations as well.

Here's a still I did with "Boxshot 3D":

Some shots of ammo boxes I found at the local Cartridge Collector's show. Mostly 1950s stuff.
