Default C&R question

Dear Experts

I applied for a C&R license in early December. Yesterday I received, via Media Mail, a large package of books, booklets, and forms, and a form letter congratulating me on gaining a C&R license. But, oddly, no license was itself in the package. Does that usually come under separate cover?

Thanks,
Jeff

You are good to go. The license is sent from a different Department and should be there in a couple weeks.

J:
How did you apply for/receive your application? I've "requested" applications on-line 2 times but don't even know if they are on the way.

Applied for a C&R in early October. My check was promptly cashed. By early January I had still not received my license. I had thought that the election, moving their office, etc. might have caused the delay. E-mailed the BATFE to find out the status of my application. An agent replied that my license had been mailed in November! He stated that he would send me another, and sure enough, I received it yesterday. The agent handled this in a friendly and very professional manner.
Bottom line, if you have applied and not received your license, a follow through might be in order.
Best regards, Don

I haven't even gotten that far. I have only requested the application materials and am beginning to doubt that any are on the way.

FYI: It took two months for the application to even arrive and requesting it online.

I told them I did not have a busisness and we mutally agreed that my 01 would be sent back.

I have found that getting an application is received sooner if you contact your nearest BATF office and request one be mailed. Once submitted with the fee, the license seems to arrive in 2-4 weeks.

I reload and find I save so much on discounts that the ability to buy 50 yr. old guns has moved to the back seat (I wish I could afford to buy more guns!)

I did finally E-mail them and got some human involvement. I had the app. in a week or 2 and am now, once again, this time following submission, waiting on the powers that be...

You want to talk with a man to get any results.

ATF is currently swamped with applications of all kinds. The new administration has prompted thousands to obtain FFLs, C2s, C3s, C&Rs.
As an example, between October, 2006 and October, 2007, BATFE processed 556,495 NFA transfers. Between October, 2007 and October, 2008 this grew to a staggering 973,409.
BATFE data indicates this has continued to explode with the realization that a largely anti-gun administration was incoming.
There is currently little you can do to speed this process, except to insure your application is filled out completely and correctly, (this is one of the major delay issues).
Calls asking about delivery times on any applications will yield little results and only slow the process down further.
Patience is in order.

I sent my renewal in on 12/10. They received it on 12/17.
Still waiting (patiently).

When I applied for my C&R, I just printed the application. It did take a long time to receive the license, but they sure cashed the check quickly. I don't know what benefit there is to requesting an application, why not just print it?
