Two. The bottom collection is two: a 1900 plus a Military of choice. Beyond that, fan only. Irrelevant, the basic collection of Mauser is two as well: a CH plus a Red 9.

The right number of Lugers is always one more than I have...it never stops (unfortunately, the money does). And, I am afraid I could be "certified sick" for several reasons

When I acquired my first Luger in 1959, I was as excited as a 5 year old on Christmas morning. 50 years later and many Lugers later, the excitement of finding a new one has not changed. The only thing that has changed is the price. One can never own too many of a cherished treasure.

To my mind, to be a collector one needs to acquire 3 of whatever it is you're collecting. One, is just one. Two, is just happenstance. Three, you have embarked on a collectors' path. Four, and you're hopelessly enslaved.

I owned one and inherited 5 more.... I never thought much about them until I started reading "The Luger Pistol" by Datig. I've come to appreciate them and give them a whole new respect. They really are a piece of mechanical brilliance.
