Default Proper holster for S/42 Luger

I have a 1938 S/42 Luger that I would like to get a nice original black leather holster for and was wondering if I need to acquire a holster that has the same date (1938) as the gun or is anything made after that date acceptable?

Hi Tom,

It's nice to get a matching dated holster, but they used anything that would work. Holsters are fragile, comparatively speaking, and often got damaged in a combat environment. Many original bring backs are found with WWI holsters, through any date after.
