The triangle in a circle occasionally shows up on the interior of Lugers and may just be an inspector using that die, just like various letters, numbers and symbols are inspection marks. When the triangle and circle is found on the exterior of a Luger or other gun it probably indicates a Portuguese connection. But it is also quite possible that you are correct and the carbine spent some time in Portugal.
