"Magazine;

Arms bullet or cartridge holder: a detachable container for cartridges or bullets that can be quickly inserted or removed from a gun."

tac is correct...

A clip merely holds ammo together until inserted into the firearm. A magazine contains and feeds the ammo as a unit.

A clip is removed after ammo has been inserted into the firearm.

A magazine remains in the firearm to hold and feed the ammo.

An enbloc clip remains in the firearm and is ejected after the last round is fired.(M1 Garand)
