Help with Identity
I would like to get some feedback on the identity of this Luger. I am sure it is not in any way original but most likely a parts rebuild. However, any light you can shed on this will be appreciated.

Jack the upper receiver, barrel and forward portion of the toggle is made by DWM in 1915. The lower grip frame, rear toggle and other parts marked "95" or "3695" are apparently made by Mauser in the WW2 timeframe before or during 1937 because the small parts are strawed "gold in color" and the Mauser "bump" on the rear of the frame.
A real nice looking shooter. Which of these markings looks like the letters under the serial number on the frame?

The toggle knobs look to me like they may be from a stainless Luger made in the 90s... Aimco or Stoeger.
Whoever did the refinish, did a beautiful job. Mike C.

A closeup examination under high magnification also reveals that the knobs are indeed checkered in the traditional sense and not stamped with a 'waffle' pattern die as the stainless guns were... This is a genuine toggle, but it came from the Mauser era, not the DWM era...

Closest Letter
John;
The letter that matches is the 36th letter going from the top left to right. it is the small U. Does that tell you anything? Thanks to all for the help you are offering. Jack |
