I am curious as to why some of you might consider this to be a 'lunch-box special' as opposed to a made up piece, say from the '50s or '60s. What guides one to this evaluation? I can't determine whether there is a C/N on the left side of the front toggle or the back toggle, which one would assume if it had the other C/Ns, then I would think that one should appear there as well. Also, looking at the front of the receiver, there appears to be a '6', which has been ground off, partly obscured by the '0'. Also, would a factory replacement barrel not have the bore measurements?
With my limited knowledge, I would look at this to be a highly fiddled with piece. I am just trying to figure out how one would tell the difference in a factory job, versus a later gunsmith rework? Would appreciate any info available. Thanks, barr |
