First Luger - Need Help

I have my first Luger. I need info on disassembly and assembly. Also, what is the best source for parts if needed. What is the best book on Lugers: operation first, history second (I'll get into history after I get the pistol to shoot). All info and advice appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Hank!!

1st go right to your left and read the General Information, the FAQ, the tech info and browse the archives of lugers like yours. (Do a search on them from the message board). Just recently were several discussions on favorite Luger books, so a search of books should bring up many things.

I bought my first Luger in June and had the same questions. I found that my best source of information on assembly/disassembly was the Ebook, "Luger Mechanicals," which has been mentioned on this Forum several times since July. You can search the Forum for comments on the subject.

For parts, try the "Classifieds" section on this forum. TOM HELLER has a large selection of parts and is both knowledgeable and helpful.

There are step-by-step instructions on disassembly in the Technical Section.

A BIG Congratulation to you. It may sound funny but this is what I did. Mabe our other friends can add to this. I bought a P08 replica that had a very usefull feature, it disassembled just like the original. This is what I practiced on until I felt confident in my abilities. Some replicas on the market now don't disassemble. It's worth a shot anyway.
