P.04 Type 1 Holster

One of my favorite photographs, which I have framed and hanging in "The Bunker" shows two young matrosen, cap tallies to the Unterseebooten-halbflotilla, with one wearing a Type 1 rig with a leather waist belt; the other wearing the Type 2 with what appears to be a fabric web belt.

The picture puts the lie to the commonly held belief that Type 2 holsters were exclusively for Seebattalions in Flanders.
