Hey Steve,

You done real good on the Luger. Congrats!!

Start reading about the Weimar Era in Germany. Everyone seems to think it was just kind of a laid back, ho-hum, period. It was actually the opposite.

Freikorps (independently led Militarist groups) were having running gun battles with the Police and the Army. The Army was in-turn having gun battles with the Police. Different Police factions were even shooting at each other.

The Anarchists and Communists were shooting it out with everybody. There was an average of 20-30 political assassinations per month. And the whole time this was going on the Army and Landj�¤gerei (State police) were on the Eastern Frontier trying to keep the Czechs and Poles from overrunning the country.

It was a real Wild West Show until they started getting things under control in the mid to late 20s.

This is the best book that I have found on the Weimar era. It's long out of print, but turns up on eBay and the on-line book sites now and then.
