A month ago I finally sold the last pair of fake material grips I owned. Fortunately, I had bought only about a half dozen sets before I realized they are wasted money.
If it is not REAL ivory, mother of pearl, stag or wood, it is not worth owning. And that is not a snobbish perspective. It is a practical economic and aesthetic one. The real stuff has actual value and increases in value over the years. The fake stuff is completely worthless the day you buy it (unless you can find another sucker) and will never increase in value at all. The fakes also do not remotely look like the real stuff. They look like exactly what they are: cheap junk imitations.
I've learned my lesson.
