Default Before&After Holster

Gentlemen, I have a before and after sequence you might enjoy. This is a 1910 Luger holster in need of a little help. This is a very rare holster and warrented the full treatment including salvaging a magazine pouch off another WW1 holster and installing it. It also got a new pull-up strap made in my shop. Jerry Burney

And AFTER

Jerry: Does this holster belong to someone? Or is it for sale?

Jerry, once again a fantastic job. I would like to know what kind of special treatment you do on the external side of the leather, but I suppose it the
Master's secret...
Congratulations Jerry !

Gentlemen, Thank you all for your kind comments about my work. This holster came to me from George Anderson. With his assistance I was able to give it the facelift that was necessary to preserve it for another hundred years.
The only parts I had to change was the magazine pouch, salvaged from an original parts holster and a pull-up strap that I hand tie here in my shop. All of the other parts are the original holster.
The rest was simply a matter of cleaning up the leather parts, removing all the old thread and getting the magazine pouch to fit up properly. I used the proper size and color linen thread to stitch it up.

I thought the membership might enjoy seeing what can be done with a pretty distressed holster.

I was actuall pretty amazed myself at the transformation.
Thanks again, Jerry Burney

Jerry, I'm in awe of your skill. Leather is one of the most difficult materials to salvage and what you do is simply amazing.

Jerry, WOW!
Two questions:
1. What is the approximate freight on such a job?
2. Have you considered going into medicine? (Cause if you could do for me what you did for that holster I could go after girls who at the moment consider me to be just a dirty old man!)

David, I like to know the price of everything. Just a failing of my human nature I suppose.
This was a job I tried to keep reasonable as I do for all my clients. Complete holster restoration such as this is not cheap and is mostly reserved for rare and valuble holsters. It does not pay to do it for your average 50 dollar beater.
This one was $185.00 Plus return shipping as I recall.
A holster in this condition it is essentially worth very little. Because of it's extreme rarity I value this 1910 unit marked Luger holster now matched to the same unit pistol at $500.00 The restoration added value to the holster itself and consequently, to the pistol as well forming a pair, that because of each other being joined, creates a higher value.
There is an interesting story the buyer told me I am sure he would not mind if I shared.
George Anderson came by this rare Cavalry holster. He remembered a member who had posted some time ago, years? the pistol from the same unit. He contacted Bill Drew and sure enough Bill still had this pistol. George was kind enough to sell Bill this holster. You can see the end result...Jerry Burney
