Default Help identifying

I just bought this holster off of ebay. I have two more that are very similar. They obviously came from the same factory, but there are no markings on any of them anywhere.
I like them because they are unusual, even campy. But I'd like to know who, what, where, when and why.
Anybody know anything about these?

Looks like a harness for an octopus, so you can take him camping with you.

David, The holster is of the GI M6 design for the M1911, but the elastic straps remind me of some that came on a surplus DDR PP shoulder holster in my collection. TH

DDR ( East german) I had a bundle of 12 of these they were given to me they still had the east german supply tag on them. Dated in the 60s. I had no use for them listed them on ebay the whole lot sold for 15.00. Hardly worth the effort.

Cool, they look very East German, bizarro-world, Stasi-esque.
So these were government manufactured then?
And since no one (citizens) was allowed to own guns, they had to be police/military only.
