If the R is a Capital Cursive with a slight slant, (like it was italicized) the marking PROBABLY means 6th Reserve Infantry Division, Second company pistol number six .
You should understand that although there were "Official" ways of property marking pistols, the rules changed many times and, as always, G.I. armorers often did their own markings. Hope this helps. Tom |
