Welcome to the Forum. This sounds like a pretty great rig, as a first post, no less! Very best of luck on the mag search, I think you have a realistic assessment of your chances, but it would indeed be a coup to find it.

Does this gun perhaps have a magazine safety, or was modified for one which has been removed? What is the unit mark?

Any chance you can show us all pictures?
