I bought a policy luger from Hugh as a shooter. What kind of groups can I expect from factory ammo. Thanks Brushy SE Okla.

Bench rest : 2-3 inch 3 shot groups 115 gr Winchester at 25 yds.

You can expect a Luger to shoot tighter groups than you are capable of holding.

Hi.
Don't know if you already saw my topic 'Range Report'?
First outing with my 1941 BYF with original barrel, 25 yards, single handed, S&B 140 grs Sub-sonic's; 5 shots in a 2" group.

Since then I've been able to produce even better results.
I'll see if I can find these cards, so I can take a picture of it.

Mckenzie,

Look under the properties of the photo. If your using Firefox or Mozilla, right click on the picture and then look under properties. I'm not sure if the right click gives you the properties or not under Explorer.

I received my 1918/1920 police luger from Hugh today. My 35 year old son and a friend of his the same age wanted to do some shooting. I have a place in the country with shooting range. My son was shooting Mod 29 S&W .357 and his friend had a Glock .45 I am not sure of the model.
We started on paper target and I didn't do well because front sight was shines. It blened in with the white paper. Next we shot metal silhouette from a distance of 25 to 50 yards. I could see my front sight on the metal targets and wiped them out. They couldn't believe a 60 year old man could out shoot there hot shot guns with 90 year old pistol. I was shooting WW 115 gr shells. The pistol didn't miss a beat in 50 rounds. Brushy SE Okla

I can get groups of 2.5" or so at 25 yards even with the mediocre sights.

Many years ago (probably 20+) a buddy bought a H&K 9mm that cost a fortune and we'd go out to the range or desert together. He'd brag on the hexagonal rifling and state of the art German engineering but my $100 Frankenstein Luger shot right along with his. Off hand or from a rest he never could beat me. (That was mainly due to the fact he wasn't a great shot.) Anyway it was interesting to pit WWI German craftmanship against new.

One of the two most satisfying shots of my career. We were shooting cans at a dump site when one of the guys spotted a pheasant sitting some distance away. They proceeeded to empty a Ruger Blackhawk, a Super Blackhawk, a couple of cap and ball revolvers, and 22 revolver at it, all without effect. (One presumes the pheasant sat tight in shell shock at all the noise.) Then I pulled out my 7.65 Luger and nailed it with one shot. A single shot doesn't really say much about accuracy, but I wasn't complaining.
