Guy, Looks like a legitimate piece of history. This is an Artillery holster converted for use by the 100,000 man Police force created after WW1 to control the returning German Veterans and Communists in post war Germany. This was a time of great unrest but as you may know the Germans did not lose the war militarily. No allied power came accross her borders. They signed an Armistice. Consequently the Police, set up by the Allied control commission, were given the responsibility to control the German population who were starving and in general at loose ends about how to start over.
This was the start of the Friekorps. Did you get taken? If this fits into your collecting interests I think you did alright. Jerry Burney Interesting era.
