I had a chrome P08 stripped electrically by a local plating business. They charged 50 dollars and not one bit of buffing, carding, wire wheel, or abrasive of any sort was used. As a matter of fact, the gun had been plated without any buffing originally, and it came back from the plating place looking like a brand new gun. The chrome had completely protected the metal underneath. It was the most perfect Luger I have ever seen.
The plating was removed the same way it had been put on, by electrodes in a bath. As I understand it, chrome will not stick to steel directly, and the steel must be first nickel plated, and then crome plated. I think the nickel alone would be better looking. |
