this is 1939 code 42 luger my grandfatherbrought back. it aint the prettiest rig i have seen but its pretty special to me. the photos are not the best either. all matching exept the mags with tool and holster. value to a collector probly not a lot but value to me... priceless. and it shoots good too!

That is a nice looking Luger and rig. It looks purty dang good to me. The neat part is that it was brought back by your grandfather. Cherish it. There won't be anymore...

Hey Fred,

Your pistol looks pretty respectable to me. The "Bunny" background is somewhat questionable, but then I got to thinking (pretty dangerous for someone my age!)

I bought my first pistol here on the forum several months ago. Since then, my son and I have many times held the gun, dry fired it with snap caps, and imagined what stories it could tell after it was produced in 1917. We'll never know, but it sure makes for good conversations.

In a sense, your Luger is a time machine. It was issued to some nameless, faceless German soldier who obviously at some point in time had no further need for it, so it went to your father. Then to you. And from the looks of the "Bunnies," there'll be someone to own it after you.....

You have a keeper! Enjoy it!

Fed, welcome to the forum! And does the holster have a tool in the pouch?

Dave, I actually thought the "pigs" were cuter than the bunny's.

A very nice Luger and some adorable bunnies in this rig!

Impressive spotting Ed! Looks like there is a genuin Mauser pig (or is it a dog?) close to the grip

I remember receiving a comment when I took a picture of two K98's laying on my bed (no, I don't sleep with them..even if they are twins! also, they are in their 70s!)
After that, I always payed a little extra attention to the background.

y'all crack me up! the bunny cloth was just some rags i used to keep the gun oil off the pool table. i didn't realise they were there but...... yes ed there is a tool in there and a spare mag too but not matching. Thanks for the kind words all this is going to be in the family for at least one more generation. cant speak for them but i hope they treasure it as much as i do. my grand dauter is a ways off to recieving this hand me down.

Your Luger looks great Fred. Take good care of it as it's not just an 'ordinary' piece.

It's great you even shoot it; that's what they were designed for after all.
