I....here in the UK we (our Gov't) have a problem with WW II P '08s with "bfy" unless they have special unit markings.

Well, don't know if they're happy with it but they do not mind.
I also own a Mauser K98k and it also has these markings; no problem. I think they are realistic enough to see that these markings are things of the past. Not to say that it's allowed to walk on the street with such markings on your jacket... but thats understandable.
