Default Re: 41 bdf luger

Nearly all 41 byf (Mauser) lugers were military or police blue. If there were any presentation nickeled pieces I have not seen one I could be sure was genuine. There may have been a few made for special people but I have not seen one myself. The Kenyon book or other luger books might picture one. Nickeled lugers, on the other hand, are very common as GI's often nickeled or more often, chromed their luger. Does it have real ivory grips and engraving all over the pistol? Those features would support a nickeled luger for presentation.

Otherwise, I would think it is a standard military piece that was plated post-war. Fortunately, there are some talented folks who can refinish lugers in the original style. That will make it look more like it did when it was new.
