You are absolutely right (as usual).
I checked the wall at KrausewerK today while I was waiting to start the paperwork on my Mauser C96. Besides a few Garands, Mike has one M1A. The biggest difference between it and a standard M14 is a non-standard flash suppressor and the winged front sight is missing. I have seen others on G-A with correct flash suppressor and sight. Of course there is no selector for full-auto and has only a ten-round magazine as per Kalifornia law. Everything else seems to be GI standard.
