Just looked at a S/42 dated 1937 today at a local gun shop. The dealer just took it in on trade. It was brought in by the son of a veteran who brought it back with him in 1945.
It is 97% with a little muzzle ware, and is all matching except for the mag. It comes with a shoulder holster and a copy of the "bring back papers" He offered it to me for $1800. I explained to him that the holster was not an issued holster and looked to be modified to fit the gun. I do believe the holster came with the gun because it is listed on the papers. It has no markings but I am sure it is WWII vintage. Also I explained that the "bring back papers" add no value to the gun because they are a "copy" and not the original. I'm thinking the value is about $1500? I just wanted to get some feedback on this. Bob |
