Note that these are Haenel Schmeisser mags from the late-30s. I took Tom's hint and checked my library (shoulda done that in the first place...), Bender pictures one but doesn't talk about it, Jan Still (Third Reich Lugers pp.171-172) describes it as a feature of the earliest Haenel Schmeisser magazine type. I'd have to guess that they are fairly valuable as an un-common variation. First time I saw a picture of one, with an online-auction Luger, I thought it might be some kind of aftermarket magazine. Hmmm, wonder if it would fit an unrelieved 1900 frame? --Dwight |
