Default What is correct loading tool for 1938 S/42?

How can I tell if I have the correct loading tool for a 1938 S/42 Luger? Also, what is the correct magazine type for this gun?

Hello again, Mike! The loading tool supplied with a 1938 Luger would have a stick winged eagle-over-63, abbreviated SE/63. There were two sizes of SE/63 marks used on loading tools. The small SE/63 would be used on mid to late 1937, all 1938 and a few early 1939 Lugers. The large SE/63 would be used on the remainder of the 1939 Lugers before the Germans changed the Inspection Office (Waffenamt) Code to SE/655.

The magazine should be a folded sheet metal blue body with an aluminum bottom. The markings on the aluminum bottom would include the serial number, including the letter suffix, a "+" sign, if it were a spare magazine and the Waffenamt (WaA) Mark. The WaA Mark would depend on the serial number of the pistol. If the suffix letter is "a" through "f", the WaA should be SE/63. If the suffix is a "g" then it could be SE/63 or SE/83. Beyong the "g" suffix, the WaA should be SE/83.

Hope this helps!!
