Surname looks to me like 'Bertrich'.

First name looks like 'Bar', not a German name or abbreviation I've ever heard of.....

Hi,

If the first part is 'Bad', it's more likely the name of a location.

The low grip position usually indicates an inexperienced shooter. First time shooters often hold a pistol in this manner.

Bad Bertrich is indeed a small town in Germany.

Thanks for input!
Looks like it might be a location instead of a name.
Thats interesting..
I searched in Google Earth, and found Bar Bertrich. Looks like a nice little town with fields, river and forest, just like on the picture

Talking Carry on the search

Now you need to find which field, and try to dig out the bullets from the tree he fired at

This is just the beginning! I will also find the empty case and the now 100 year old L«utnant (if alive), reload the case and take him out to shoot his Luger once again! With a more firm grip
He probably missed the tree back then..
