Here are some pics. I also have a question regarding the last one.

On this last shot, I have noticed that it likes to hang up here a wee bit. A little nudge and down she goes. I put 50 through it yesterday and a few times it stuck at this point. New springs? Not sure if they are original.

Please be careful if it's all matching. Breaking a numbered part on a matching gun will knock a chunk of change off it's value.

Many keep a spare extractor, firing pin and even toggles and breech block to go shooting with. A new spring would be a good idea if you have any doubts, it's lasted 88 years, shame to batter it to death now

Sounds like good advice. I also may limit "firing it" to every once in a while. Now that I have one, I got some of that out of my system. I am a bit of a history buff and I like to shoot. Luger was my first choice, but I started with a P38, also a nice handgun.

Quite agree. I find the P38 a fun gun to shoot, and there easier to keep running than a Luger if something does go snap !

I've a restored Erfurt that's matching and I'm hesitant to shoot it, is there a point in having it ?? Always a dilemma.

Stu,

I would say go ahead and shoot your restored Erfurt with relative impunity. As a restoration it is value-limited; having to replace a broken part will reduce its value only minimally at this point.

It will certainly be a remarkable gun on the firing line.

I know what you mean Dwight; my artillery is a ball. I quite agree with your comment about value; it was about 70% pre Thor. I believe I could just about get the cost of the pistol + restoration out of it, so I'm happy.

I just can't bring myself to risk breaking a matching part, dumb, but that's just me.

The artillery matches but has been cleaned up so much a lot of the markings are gone or very faint, (done very well, just a little metal removed to get a true surface again), I can live with the chances on that

I need to get a true mixer to shoot with impunity

I'll have to sell something and jump in before the price of one of even those skyrockets beyond my means.

Happy shooting,
Stu

Lucky Guy,
Great looking Luger, seems you have a great piece of history..enjoy it and
good luck with it. I have a 1916 Erfurt almost all matching, and even so, im afraid to shoot it. Maybe someday I will put a few rounds thru it.
