Don,

I would applaud a book specifically on German Polizei markings and I would certainly buy a copy. My thoughts are that this might be a very small market though. While you and I (and a few notable others) are interested in such arcane things, most people, I would suspect, would not be. I do think that desktop publishing might be the way for you to go. You could print on demand and not have a lot of money tied up in finished books waiting to be sold.

When I wrote my "Seitengewehr; History of the German Bayonet" book I opted to make a publishing deal with Roger Bender. That was a good decision for me but if you are going to publish it yourself I would put as little money into it up front as possible to determine what the market is. So, yes I would buy a copy and I think that Heinz is right about desktop publishing being the way to go.
