Charly,

My guess is that these nice little silver-pated gun oilers get added along the way by collectors...having one in a leather pouch is also nice. Or maybe some of the cased presentation lugers had them when sold as a cased set.

You see them from time to time at gun shows (usually on dealer set-up days only...) and on some of the auction sites.

I have been quitely picking them up when I can...usually for under $ 20 or so. Many show up on UK web sites...

Many are vintage oilers for fishing reels or sewing machines or typewriters...

Do a search on e-Bay for "oiler"...
