L.A.1.23.
If the serial number of the Ortiges is (as indicated on the mag and holster)176681 it was manufactured after the end of World War I. It is doubtful if post World War I pistols would bear Imperial unit stamps as many parts of the Imperial Army were dismantled at the Wars end. I suspect that the Imperial Luftschiffer units were all dissolved at the end of World War I and there is not a listing for post World War I Luftschiffer units in the 1923 Reichswehr unit markings instructions. Also, the markings are not according to orders with the numbers being larger than the unit designator. This is an interesting mystery marking, not Imperial and most likely not Weimar military or police. Possible it is a private or company marking. Jan |
