Default Wolff magazine springs

I tried to put a new Wolff +10% magazine spring in my 1920 DWM Commercial 7.65mm magazine. The new spring is considerably longer than the old one and binds against the front of the magazine body when it is compressed. Both the old and new springs are of the round variety. The new spring is heavier gauge wire than the old one. How can I solve this problem? Contra.
