Here is my homemade Luger drawers made from the top section of a Craftsman tool box. Drawers are the heavy duty 80# weight. I made the racks out of aluminum bar stock, threaded rod covered with PVC, so there is no metal on metal contact with the pistols.
Back of tool box is screwed to back of gun safe, so the box will not tip when a loaded drawer is pulled out. Now, I can store my pistols right side up where you can inspect the markings, identify them more easily, and avoid damaging the tops. I previously stored them upside down on a carpeted shelf (as my P.38s and PPs are seen on the top shelf). A downward pointed lamp on the top of the gun safe shines directly on the opened shelves.
