Rifle barrels do not have to be 16+, IF they have a permanently attached (pinned or welded) muzzle brake or flash suppressor that brings the combined total length to 16"+.

I do not think that is a NFA weapon. It looks like a AR15 pistol with a brace. Hard to believe but that gun is legal in CA. Sounds like the only problem was he did not have current written permission to own the cache.

Don, I agree, flaunting NFA laws will result in "Big Boy Time Out". What I have seen is the rarity in enforcement of violations on the 4473 form. Working in LE and at several gun stores during my advanced age ATF has seldom investigated crimes that could put bad guys away.
