Doug, I looked up the 38 S&W cartridge compared to the 9mm Parabellum...It's not all that far off...

Hmmmm...I just re-read Dave's first post...Doug, Dave wrote that it is a .32...but the export proofs look to me to be ".38"...

This pistol does have the brass disc on the right side grip. It has a #4 in it?

Nope, that's the 'broad arrow'. Is it held in with a screw ? (Enfield rifle discs are held in with a screw - I have a couple from my rifles). If it comes off easily, there may be a unit designation on the back side.

Yes, it is held in with a screw. I took it apart and removed disc. No markings at all.
