I've got the same problem. I do not like plastic futuristic (aka modern) guns. I've got a pre ban Colt AR SP2 that I have a lot of money in with 30 rd magazines, Colt scope, cheek pad, carry case, ect, and it rarely leaves the rack. Excellent gun, very accurate, I just don't like to shoot it. I'll take down an old WWII era bolt action every time and go plinking, or take an 03 or M-1 deer or coyote hunting.
