I'm considering an upgrade of my Sony digital camera. What's the best nonprofessional equipment available?

George, I can only speak from experience... we just bought a Nikon Coolpix 4300 and the first 30 photo tests have been quite pleasing...

George, I like my Fuji S602Z which offers fully manual operation and through-the-lens viewing just like an SLR camera. It also has a hot shoe for external flash units plus two degrees of close-up focusing. You can read the review at the site Luke has posted.

Sony is currently introducing the replacement for the F707/717 digital camera. I believe it is called the 828 and has a much higher pixel count as well as a new look and a host of features. Believe it is under $1K.

George, I have and love my Nikon 775 Coolpic, although they have been replaced by newer models they are still available on line if you can find them. Used to be about $500 but now going for less than $200. On a 8 meg flashcard I have gotten 163 images and still had lots of space left using the low resolutin setting which gives great pics that are just right for posting or emailing. Has macro and telephoto and lots of other features, digital and optical viewing, everything I need or want and you can drop it in your shirt pocket.

Nikon Coolpic 5700 is a wonderful camera. I consider it the best non-professional camera. Makes a pro out of anyone with a digit.
