John, I have seen many of these and taken apart several. From what I can see this has charicteristics of an original double mag pouch. A photo of the back and inside would be helpful. Also any marking that might be present. They are generally found on the inside top flap and might be faint. Look closely at the thread and see if it is stranded. The Germans during the time they were sewing leather goods used linen thread and it has distinct strands seperate from one another. Lines so to speak. Not like cotton or synthetic threads.
