In the early 1980s Renato Gamba agreed with Mauser to make a HSc under license. Mauser in turn made a version of the Renato Gamba .38 sp. revolver.

Gamba tried to license the HSc to Steyr, which caused issues with Mauser again.

Gamba did modify the HSc, creating a double stack. 380 version for the Italian police. These were bought by Interarms and most ended up in the USA.

Years ago I acquired the only known factory cutaway of the Renato Gamba HSc, specially made for Prof. Dr. Rolf Gminder who collected cutaways at that time.
