Intriguing Mauser HSc 'Super' on GB
2 Attachment(s)
I've never seen this before. Cut-back frame under barrel, thick grips. Made by Renato Gamba under license from Mauser. Listed on GB.
No mention of what the 'Super ACP' means (it's stamped on slide). Anyone have any information on this variation??? :) Mauser-Werke Model HSC Super .380 ACP https://www.gunbroker.com/item/799311627 |
Sheepherder:
I think I read that these were double stacks. Sieger |
I believe Sieger is correct.

Thank you, gentlemen!
Whenever I look at an original Mauser HSc, I keep thinking it would look better with that big triangular piece in front of the trigger guard milled away. But this Gamba has an ugly grip, and a double stack magazine pretty much makes it too bulky for comfortable concealment. :( |

In the early 1980s Renato Gamba agreed with Mauser to make a HSc under license. Mauser in turn made a version of the Renato Gamba .38 sp. revolver.
Gamba tried to license the HSc to Steyr, which caused issues with Mauser again. Gamba did modify the HSc, creating a double stack. 380 version for the Italian police. These were bought by Interarms and most ended up in the USA. Years ago I acquired the only known factory cutaway of the Renato Gamba HSc, specially made for Prof. Dr. Rolf Gminder who collected cutaways at that time. |
