I disagree - Simson had the official refurbishment contract - it could very well have gone through Simson and then ended up at police where later it received a TP barrel (ref the rear toggle) - that is not seen too often on TP marked guns....

The rear toggle is quite odd, with the E/6 and the gothic S of a K date Mauser.

I'm pretty sure the inspector named E/6 did not disappear when Simson did, so perhaps he was still around inspecting spare parts?
