The 8.81 through 8.85 bore measurement was gauged for each barrel as part of the manufacturing process. 8.82mm is the optimum land to land measurement. 9.02mm the optimal groove to groove measurement.
Since this was measured and stamped when the barrel was brand new, it is possible to determine the amount of wear a barrel has experienced by gauging it again at a later time. Marc
